Saving Lives Every Day
“We have the choice to use the gift of our lives to make the world a better place – or not to bother” – Jane Goodall
What We Do
Our focus is animal rescue. Seniors, special needs, and the discarded are priority.
All of our rescues are placed with fosters; individuals and families.
We follow “Being Kind to All Kinds”. We help not only dogs and cats but all types of animal friends.
We collaborate with other rescues and shelters to help those most in need.
We go #BeyondRescue. We collect and donate dog and cat food. We work to help people keep their animal companions in their homes, avoid unnecessary surrenders and euthanasia.
We spay/neuter all animals except for medical issues. Spay/neuter prevents some serious health problems as an animal ages, reduces objectionable behaviors and helps control population.
We support helping community cats. Our hearts break over the terrible conditions that these cats endure. This problem is bigger than any one group but we stand ready to help whenever possible.
We are guided by the connection between animals, humans and the environment. We help protect native plants and animals sharing our Halfway House Rescue property.
Rescue and Rehabilitation
Rescue is our job. The unwanted and neglected are our focus. Every day brings pleas for help. Senior dogs and cats are surrendered daily to shelters or found on the streets. Some have serious medical problems. Some are just discarded. Often for many, there is little hope.
That’s where we come in.Our hearts break for these animals.
And it is not just dogs and cats. A turkey found in a dumpster. A pig found wondering city streets. Rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, baby chicks. All needing a second chance for life.
All animals receive the medical care they need and are placed in peaceful, loving foster homes while waiting for their forever home.
Some spend time at our Halfway Home Rescue House where special temporary care can be provided.
Our costs to do this work are huge. The reward of saving a life is incalculable. Please help us rescue more. Donate
Be Kind to All Kinds
We primarily help dogs and cats, and focus on seniors, the discarded, and those with special needs.
But we’re here to help all kinds. Rabbits, chickens, roosters. A turkey pulled from a dumpster on Thanksgiving. A pig found wondering a city street. A work horse being sold for slaughter.
We find homes for some, and turn to other rescues and sanctuaries to take those animals we are not equipped to help like deer, raccoons, and wild birds.
Feed our Friends
#BeyondRescue means helping our neighbors struggling to provide food for their families and companion animals.
We collect and sometimes purchase dog and cat food to donate to area food pantries and needy individuals.
Nobody should have to surrender their beloved companions to a shelter because they can’t afford food.
Help us help others.
The Halfway Home Rescue House
Our Rescue House is located on six peaceful acres. It is a temporary place of rehabilitation for some of our most needy rescues, cared for by a live-in foster, while waiting for a long-term foster or forever home.
An isolation room provides a safe place for new or sick animals. A fenced-in yard provides a safe place for dogs. A large family room is a playground for cats. The house is also our base of operations.
More than 50 animals have passed through in the past year. Some stayed a couple of days, some weeks or months. All benefited from the peace and quiet of a home setting.
We share this beautiful property with local wildlife. Our field is a haven for birds. A milkweed garden attracts butterfly, a bat house is ready to install. We are protecting native plants.
We are full of thanks to the most generous of donors for their incredible support. This place of peace for rescue animals is a dream fulfilled and maybe even the start of something bigger.
