It seems everyday brings us news of another kitten in terrible distress. The past few days have been extremely frustrating as we tried to intervene to help in a couple of situations only to learn that the cat had died before help could arrive.
Yesterday we heard of a pregnant kitten in Paterson with a serious leg injury from being caught in a metal leg-hold trap. It took us all night to sort out the stories and locate the cat, which eventually ended up this morning at the local pound. We were finally able to pick up this beautiful girl this morning and named her Alice, in recognition of truth and grace. ❤️
But before leaving for the hospital, we saw another cat in the adjoining cage suffering with a huge facial abscess. How could we leave him behind to suffer? So we quickly named our second rescue of the morning Keefe, a wonderful Irish name meaning handsome and lovable (he is both) and rushed both to Oradell Animal Hospital.
Once there we learned that Alice could have her babies at any given moment. She was taken into treatment, where she was started on intravenous fluids and meds to help with her infected wound.
Just a short time later, as we waited for Alice and Keefe, we received a call about a third tiny kitten with grievous injuries. The photos were too hard to look at. We knew that this poor young kitten deserved a chance and immediately said that we’d drive back again and get him. We had Thor, so named to hopefully give strength, at the hospital within an hour.
Sadly Thor’s multiple injuries were too extensive to survive and we had to say goodbye to him, comforted only by the fact that he was able to experience love and a caring touch for the last hours of his too short life.
Now we need your help. We need dedicated foster homes for Alice and Keefe. Alice needs a quiet spot where she can heal, and have and care for her kittens.
We need your support, as hospitalizing so many animals can be financially devastating to a new rescue.
At times, this work that we do can be heartbreaking, as it was today with losing poor sweet Thor. But knowing that we are truly making a difference, and watching beautiful Alice purring away while her belly is being rubbed makes it worth the tears.
Please consider making a donation tonight, so that we can continue to be ready and waiting for that next urgent phone call.
Thank you for caring. We will continue to update you on these very special cats. ❤️

Update on Alice! ?
You may remember beautiful Alice, who was rescued just a few days ago, after being found stuck in a dangerous metal leg-hold trap.
Alice is happily recovering in her wonderful foster home, where her very dedicated foster mom is doing bandage changes every day.
Alice’s foot is still extremely swollen, but she continues to improve, and her vet is hopeful that she will have a full recovery! ?
This gorgeous girl does nothing but purr, and is so full of love! ❤️
So now…it begins, the kitten watch!
How many kittens will our sweet girl have? When will they make their appearance?
Alice’s little belly is growing…and her ultrasound shows some very developed looking babies. ?
Stay tuned for daily Alice updates! ❤️

Baby Announcement! ?゚リᄎ?゚リᄎ
We are happy to bring you the wonderful news that against all odds, our brave survivor Alice brought four precious, perfect kittens into the world today. ❤️
Alice somehow survived being caught in a metal leg-hold animal trap just a week ago. Despite suffering a serious injury to her leg, she has been happy and purry and loving throughout every exam and bandage change.
While Alice still may need further intervention to treat her foot, she shows no signs of discomfort, and is still purring away, tending to her babies.
Alice is truly someone special, and her kittens are nothing short of a miracle. They are all reminders to never lose hope, and that every single life is precious.
Thank you to Alice’s awesome foster mom, Michelle, who has been there for this very special little family every step of the way, and to our dedicated team members who worked so hard to get Alice to safety last weekend. You have now saved five beautiful lives. ?
We will continue to update you on our favorite little family. Thank you so much for all the love you’ve sent their way. ❤️

Update on our beautiful mama cat, Alice, and her adorable babies! ?¬ンᄂ️
Alice’s wonderful foster mom took her to visit Dr Lee at Oradell Animal Hospital on Thursday. Everyone is doing very well, and as you can see, are as happy as can be.
Despite being cut right down to the bone by the steel leg-hold hunting trap that she was caught in, Alice is still purring up a storm, and enjoying every minute of caring for her sweet kittens.
While Alice’s paw is still swollen, her leg is still healthy, and at this point, we have no reason to believe that she will not make a full recovery.
It is nothing short of a miracle that this precious little family survived. ❤️
Thank you for all the love you have sent their way. ?¬ンᄂ️
